Working with Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diversity in Therapy


This 2-3 hour training supports trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists to develop a better understanding of socio-cultural and political impacts for GSRD clients.

This includes:

  • Introducing, defining and exploring Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity (GSRD)

  • Applying an intersectional lens and Social Graces model

  • Making sense of key terms, including pronouns.

  • Unpacking harmful psychoanalytic roots and positioning current harm in therapy

  • Psycho/pathologization of queer and trans people across healthcare

  • Systemic violence, ‘conversion’ therapy and transphobia

  • Adult and youth mental health

  • Protective factors and good practice.
